The show of police force here at the RNC has been incredible. When measured against what is going on inside the convention, it's stunning. There is less than a quarter of the people attending the RNC compared to the DNC last week in Denver, but the police force is from all over the country. What's really going on? Is this just a dress rehearsal? -- Nicole Sawaya

As the dust settles a bit for the night, the numbers of those arrested are in. A staggering 284 people arrested; 130 of those charged with felonies. Up to 20,000 people took the the streets in protest while 2500 police roamed and arrested, according to the Ramsey County Police Department. Court proceedings are expected to begin tomorrow. -- Leigh Ann Caldwell See more and the Pacifica reporter blogs here

At the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, thousands of politicians, operatives, and power brokers will descend on security-ringed conference centers to fight for control of their parties, and then campaign for control of this country. The Pacifica radio network will bring you UNconventional coverage - asking politicians questions they never hear from other media, bringing you voices from the street protests outside, and, of course, bringing our own analysts onto the microphones to dissect the platforms and speeches. Hosted by Mitch Jeserich, Aimee Allison, and Sonali Kolhatkar; with Larry Bensky and Davey D.

Breaking News: No Lies Radio will have coverage from the Ron Paul counter convention, at the rally, and outside on the streets at the RNC.

Critical Response to NIST Final Report on the Mysterious Collapse of WTC Building 7 Join the 430 Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth for an important live (audio) Press Conference. The subject is the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 which was a 47 story steel-framed fire-proofed high-rise - the 3rd tower to fall straight down symmetrically at nearly free-fall speed on 9/11/01 with numerous reports of explosions and several tons of molten metal found in the basement carrying the thermite fingerprint. SPECIAL LIVE COVERAGE: No Lies Radio carried live the Pacifica Radio network (KPFA) broadcast of the House Judiciary Committee hearing on the Imperial Presidency and possible legal responses entitled "Executive Power and Its Constitutional Limitations" on Friday, July 25, 2008.
DESCRIPTION:
For the last several years, many progressives - including a handful of Congress members - have called for the impeachment of President George W. Bush. But they have been stymied by six years of Republican majority followed by a Democratic leadership that took impeachment "off the table." That may be changing. This Friday, the House Judiciary Committee will take the first step to investigate what Rep. John Conyers calls "numerous credible allegations of serious misconduct." While the panel of witnesses is somewhat fluid until the hearing actually begins, the current roster of speakers includes: -- Several Congress members: Dennis Kucinich, Jane Harman, Walter Jones, Brad Miller, and Maurice Hinchey -- Several non-Congress Members: Elizabeth Holtzman, Bruce Fein, Frederick Schwartz, John Dean, Bob Barr, Rocky Anderson, Vincent Bugliosi, Elliott Adams. Anchored by KPFA's Larry Bensky & Aimee Allison and produced by Max Pringle.
NEWS FLASH: Dennis Kucinich spoke exclusively to the Alex Jones show yesterday concerning his effort to bring articles of impeachment against the president and the vice president. Meanwhile, staffers of the chairman of the Judiciary Committee have reportedly told witnesses that Kucinich's informal impeachment hearing this Friday may be under threat of dismissal before it is even underway. The Congressman urged listeners to engage in discussions on the issue of impeachment and demand media coverage of the hearing to help increase awareness and protect the country from tyranny. "The best defense of a country is an informed citizenry, so people should read the articles, and if there is anything I missed in the 35 articles then I'd be happy to hear from people." Kucinich told listeners. This Friday Congressman Kucinich will present the articles to the judiciary committee and talk about why he believes they should move to a formal hearing, and take testimony under oath of both the George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. "I think it's really important for the American people to know once and for all if in fact there were deliberate lies told that took this country into war." Kucinich commented. "I'm going to be putting on the table, something which everyone said was off the table, articles of impeachment." However, in the hours after Kucinich's comments, news began to circulate that chairman of the Judiciary Committee John Conyers is now taking the position that no one at the hearing can accuse Bush or Cheney of any crime, any impeachable offense, dishonorable conduct, or even lying. Conyers' staffers have reportedly told various witnesses that according to Congressional rules he would be forced to shut down the hearing if any such accusations are made. David Swanson of the activist website afterdowningstreet.org has more: 'Apparently the rules of Congress are designed to allow impeachable offenses to be discussed only in impeachment hearings. Apparently this didn't occur to Chairman Conyers when he decided to hold a non-impeachment impeachment hearing. As a result, his hearing may be quickly shut down, and he will have a choice of holding a real impeachment hearing, resigning, or dropping the pretense that he intends to resist Cheney and Bush in any way whatsoever.' It is still unclear whether or not these rules will apply to Dennis Kucinich in addition to all other witnesses during the session. In this sense the hearing may be rigged to be shut down before it has even begun.

Cynthia McKinney
No Lies Radio aired a live three-hour Pacifica Radio Network broadcast from the Green Party Convention in Chicago on Sunday, July 13th as the convention came to a close.
Former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney's trek back from defeat takes her to Chicago this week and an improbable political rebirth. She is expected to be nominated as the presidential candidate for the Green Party of the United States and could appear on the ballot in as many as 36 states as the extreme long-shot rival to Republican John McCain and Democratic candidate Barack Obama, making McKinney the second black presidential candidate in the November race. McKinney, 53, a lightening-rod figure in her six terms as a 4th District U.S. Congressman, was defeated for re-election in 2006 by Hank Johnson after a much publicized run-in with a U.S. Capitol police officer and her accusations that the Bush administration was covering up information about the 9/11 terrorist attacks. She has campaigned since last fall for the Green Party nomination, traveling to 30 states with a small entourage, with little money, a slogan of "Power To The People" and a "10-Point Manifesto" for change that includes the immediate withdrawal of American troop from Iraq and Afghanistan; universal health care; the establishment of a Department of Peace; and paying reparations to blacks who are victims of discrimination and economic disparity. Going into the convention vote Saturday McKinney has a more than 10-to-1 delegate lead over her closest rival, Jesse Johnson, of West Virginia. "She's the presumptive nominee," said Green Party Political Director Brent McMillan Tuesday. "But our conventions aren't like Republican and Democratic conventions, which are coronation. So you never know." (from the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, By JEFFRY SCOTT, Published on: 07/09/08)

Witnessing Guantanamo: Amy Goodman Speaks with 3 Former Gitmo Detainees. On May 31st, Amy Goodman interviewed 3 released Gitmo detainees via teleconference to Sudan from a packed lecture hall at the University of California, Davis. These courageous souls (Adel Hamad, Hammad Amno, and Salim Mahmoud Ademgave) told heart wrenching stories that all Americans should hear and be ashamed of. Find out how they were picked up in Pakistan shortly after 9/11, how the CIA was directly involved in these detentions, how they were treated, rendered to Afghanistan and then to Gitmo, and whether or not you think they are guilty of anything. The question for the 911 truth movement is if the Gitmo prisoners are not perps, then they must be patsies, and thus a part of the 911 engineered conspiracy. Should we as the truth movement support these prisoners in their search for justice? Are these detainee stories further grounds for impeachment? You decide and then act! This program was provided courtesty of the Guantanamo Testimonials Project, a UC Davis-based effort to catalog accounts of prisoner abuse from print and broadcast sources around the world.
